Frederick County Public Schools is one of six Virginia school divisions to receive a 2019 Excellence in Risk Management Award from VACORP. VACORP provides insurance coverage and risk management services to school divisions, public entities and related organizations across Virginia.

Frederick County Public Schools received the Property/Casualty Excellence in Risk Management Award for school divisions with an enrollment in excess of 10,000 students. As of September 30, enrollment in Frederick County Public Schools was 13,923.

Schools Superintendent David Sovine says, “Our school division has more than 25 facilities, including 18 schools and 40 modular classroom units, totaling more than 2.5 million square feet to maintain and protect. Our staff does an outstanding job and is focused on safety, injury prevention and property protection practices. It is an honor to be recognized for having an exceptional risk management program as it highlights our commitment to protecting and making the most of the resources we have and are obligated to maintain and protect.”

School Specialist of VACORP Lee Brannon says, “It’s an honor to recognize school divisions that are excelling at risk management. It’s our hope that school divisions across the commonwealth will learn from the award recipients regarding the best practices in risk management so that proactive practices can be emulated across Virginia.”
