Frederick County Public Schools is providing a COVID-19 dashboard as part of an ongoing effort to inform the community about the impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on school operations. The dashboard includes an area where the number of new COVID-19 cases within the school division are reported daily as well as an area where the total number of cases reported since the first day of the 2020-21 school year are reported each Friday by 5:00 p.m. Individual health information is kept confidential and therefore, specific information such as the identity or condition of those who have tested positive is not shared. Please note, some of the confirmed COVID-19 cases included in the dashboard involve students/staff engaged in all distance learning/teaching or individuals who were in quarantine prior to testing positive and therefore, the case did not present any risk of exposure to COVID-19 within their school community.
When a confirmed case of COVID-19 impacting a student attending or a staff member working at a school facility is reported, the case is reported on the daily COVID-19 dashboard no later than the next regular business day. Any students and/or staff members determined through contact tracing to have been in close contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 are also contacted by either the Lord Fairfax Health District or Frederick County Public Schools and instructed to quarantine for a prescribed period of time. Close contact means being within six feet of the individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes or more in a 24-hour period with or without a face covering, or having contact with the individual’s respiratory secretions from the mouth or nose while they were contagious.
